In-sook is a writer and photographer. Her writing has been published in Plainsongs, Invisible City, and Marrow Magazine, and her photography is forthcoming in The Sun. She was a 2024 scholarship recipient for the Salty Quill writing retreat for women in Maine and an artist-in-residence at Alderworks Alaska for the summer of 2025. Her solo mixed media photo exhibition, Regenerate, was at the Heartwood Center in Evanston, IL, in the winter/spring of 2025, and she was selected for an Illinois Arts Council artist grant for the 2026 cycle.
Recently, she spent a month in Burlington, Vermont, working on a collection of interconnected short stories examining loss, connection, and pilot programs in a burning world, then traveled to the San Juan Islands for folk herbalism training with De Danaan before joining the Orcas Island School District.
With an intent to serve communities that emphasize belonging and open hearts, In-sook is particularly interested in supporting small businesses, artists, and non-profits by providing photography services using barter economy.
In-sook is her Korean birth name. Raven is her adoptive grandmother's maiden name.
